Bioactivity enhancement of calcined kaolin geopolymer with ...

ABSTRACT: This paper reports that surface treatment with CaCl 2 enhances the bioactivity of a calcined kaolin geopolymer. Calcined kaolin, NaOH solution, sodium silicate solution, and heat curing were used to form geopolymer pastes. A soakedtreatment method was applied to the geopolymer samples using CaCl 2 solution as the ion exchange agent.

Study on Compound Modification of Sodium Silicate

In this paper, twocomponent compound modifiers were used to modify sodium silicate, preparing a new type of inorganicorganic composite cold pellet binder consolidation. The dispersion of its formative adhesive films is good and the bonding ability is also high. By changing modifier ratio and addition, the information of pellet structure and composition was studied.

All silicate solutions are alkaline, the pH of commercial silicate solutions ranges from approximately 10 to 13. The pH is a function of ratio and concentration and decreases with increasing silica content. The stability of a sodium silicate solution depends to a large extent on pH. All sodium silicate solutions will

Sodium Silicate Binders for Green Sand Metalcasting Foundry

Dec 16, 2016· Sodium Silicate Binders for Green Sand Metalcasting Foundry. The sand and silicate mixture is hardened by gassing with carbon dioxide (CO 2 ). Molds or cores produced with Silicate binders result in castings with minimal veining, scabbing and penetration. Due to lack of mold wall movement, dimensional accuracy may be improved over some other casting processes.

Sodium silicate, also called waterglass is an interesting compound that is used in a variety of things. Water glass is a glue, a high heat cement or refractory, used to preserve eggs without refrigeration and as a sealer for concrete. My interest is to use sodium silicate for a refractory in a high heat forge.
